I always run and install new updates on my PC, but it never showed that it is up to date. It doesn't even detect any viruses. What could be the problem?

There are two possible explanations for this issue:
The application is configured correctly and there are actually no viruses on your computer, therefore nothing will be show in the Quarantine or scan window.
It's possible that you have viruses, but McAfee doesn't have the necessary features to detect them which in this case you should install another antivirus application, because different products have different scanning engines.
